We’ve got just over three weeks until Edgar Wright’s The World’s End arrives in theaters domestically and Focus Features has just revealed two new video tie-ins that you can check out in the players below. The first, a featurette titled “Not What it Used to Be,” explores the development of the new film and explains how it ties thematically into the “Cornetto Trilogy” (which also includes Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz). The second, produced by the Alamo Drafthouse, features Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost with a special “No Talking” message for theatergoers.
Also starring Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike, The World’s End takes place 20 years after a group of five childhood friends attempted an epic pub crawl. They reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The World’s End arrives in theaters August 23.
