Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow are in talks to join Johnny Depp in director David Koepp’s Mortdecai, Variety reports.
The film is an adaptation of “The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery” by Kyril Bonfiglioli. The fourth chapter in the author’s Mortdecai series (which also includes 1972’s “Don’t Point That Thing At Me,” 1976’s “Something Nasty in the Woodshed,” and 1979’s “After You with the Pistol”), the novel was published posthumously in 1996. It follows Charles Mortdecai, a debonair art dealer and part time rogue on race to uncover a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
McGregor recently starred in both The Impossible and Jack the Giant Slayer. He can next be seen in John Wells’ comedy-drama August: Osage County. Paltrow, meanwhile, was on the big screen in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 and will soon star in Carlos Saura’s 33 Dias.
