Inferno, the latest novel to follow the adventures of Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons), is heading to the big screen. Sony Pictures has dated the film for December 18, 2015 with David Koepp adapting the screenplay, Deadline reports.
The book itself marks the fourth novel to follow Langdon. The third book, The Lost Symbol, is still eyed for a big screen version, but is expected at a later date. Published earlier this year, Inferno is officially described as follows:

Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. UPDATE: It has now been revealed that Hanks is set to reprise the Langdon role with Howard returning to direct.
