Aside from a brief snippet of footage screened at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in early April, news on the Stephen King adaptation IT: Chapter Two has remained relatively quiet. Until now! The first trailer to the horror sequel will arrive online this Thursday with news being revealed via a billboard in Times Square. Check out the Tweet below!
The second part of IT is written by Gary Dauberman, directed once again by Andy Muschietti, and will hit theaters on September 6, 2019. Bill Skarsgård is set to return as the clown Pennywise for the sequel, joining the adult versions of the Losers club including James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa , Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Andy Bean. Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer reprise their roles from the first film.
IT debuted in September of last year to the tune of $123.1 million on opening weekend, the highest opening weekend ever for a September release, for a fall release, and for a horror movie. It clocked in just $9 million behind Deadpool for the second-highest opening for an R-rated movie. The film earned over $700 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing horror movie of all time.
