“Community” star Joel McHale has joined the cast of the Scott Derrickson paranormal thriller Beware the Night, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. He’ll play a veteran police officer opposite Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez and Olivia Munn.
Derrickson will direct the picture from a screenplay he and Paul Harris Boardman adapted. Production is now underway in the Bronx with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.
Beware the Night again teams Derrickson and Boardman with Screen Gems where their first film, 2005s hit The Exorcism of Emily Rose, was made and distributed. The film reunites Bruckheimer with Bana, who starred in the producers Academy Award-winning Black Hawk Dawn, directed by Ridley Scott.
The film follows a New York cop who meets a renegade priest when he is pulled into a case which the priest convinces him, against the officers religious beliefs, is demonic related. Together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them.
