It’s a Star Wars reunion of sorts in the old west today as Deadline reports that Ewan McGregor will be joining Natalie Portman for Gavin O’Connor’s Jane Got a Gun. He’s replacing the recently departed Bradley Cooper as the film’s chief antagonist.
Also starring Joel Edgerton and Rodrigo Santoro, Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang who are out to kill him.
Originally set for Lynne Ramsay to direct, Jane Got a Gun is now being helmed by O’Connor and the production has not been without some troubles. Michael Fassbender was initially attached to play the lead protagonist but, when he left the project, Edgerton swapped his bad guy role for the part. Jude Law then signed on for the villain role, exiting the production soon thereafter. Hopefully, McGregor, the fourth actor to take the part, will be the one who ultimately makes it to the big screen.
