Less than a month after joining the project, Bradley Cooper has departed Jane Got a Gun. Deadline reports that the production is now racing to recast Cooper’s role as the film’s chief antagonist.
Starring Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton and Rodrigo Santoro, Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang who are out to kill him.
Originally set for Lynne Ramsay to direct, Jane Got a Gun is now being helmed by Gavin O’Connor. Michael Fassbender was initially attached to play the lead protagonist but, when he left the project, Edgerton swapped his bad guy role for the part. Jude Law then signed on for the villain role, exiting the production soon thereafter.
The outlet suggests that potential replacements for the role include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hiddleston and Tobey Maguire.
