Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Bill Murray (Lost in Translation, St. Vincent, Ghostbusters) will be teaming up again with Oscar and Golden Globe-winning Lost in Translation writer and director Sofia Coppola for the upcoming movie On the Rocks, Deadline has confirmed.
On the Rocks follows a young mother who reconnects with her larger than life playboy father on an adventure through New York. The film will mark Apple and A24’s first feature project.
Emmy nominee Rashida Jones (Hot Girls Wanted, Parks and Recreation) will star alongside Murray in the project. Production on the film is scheduled to being this spring in New York.

Murray made his way back to guest star on Saturday Night Live, where earned an Emmy win for the comedy variety series in 1977, and recently starred in Isle of Dogs. His previous credits also include Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom, Zombieland, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Royal Tenenbaums. Murray wrapped production on the comedy-horror The Dead Don’t Die and is currently filming Zombieland 2 and The French Dispatch.
Coppola’s screenwriting and directing credits include The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring, A Very Murray Christmas, and the drama thriller The Beguiled. The filmmaker has also appeared onscreen in previous projects, including Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, The Godfather: Part III, and CQ.
