Ritchie is currently in post-production on the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin starring Billy Magnussen, Will Smith, and Naomi Scott. His last film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, was a costly misfire that grossed just $148 million worldwide on a $175 million budget. Still, the director’s Sherlock Holmes films were sizable hits, while his early work, namely Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels remain minor classics.
Miramax’s Bob Osher and Matthew Anderson will oversee the film in behalf of the film studio. Toff Guys’s production is scheduled to begin sometime this fall. The movie will film in England.
