Now starring in a London production of “Macbeth,” James McAvoy spoke with ComingSoon.net via satellite this past weekend to promote his latest film, Trance. Directed by Danny Boyle, Trance also stars Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel and will receive a limited domestic release on April 5. We’ll have full conversations with the cast crew closer to that date, but McAvoy also offered a brief update on the status of his next production, Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past wherein he reprises his role as Charles “Professor X” Xavier.
“I read the script yesterday,” says McAvoy. “…I had my first costume fitting. He looks cool. He looks fun. I like his ’70’s costumes.”
The massive ensemble is also set to include Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart and will blend the modern timeline featured in Singer’s original franchise entries with a continuation of the 60’s timeline shown in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class.
McAvoy’s “Macbeth” performances will continue in the West End until the end of April. After that, McAvoy’s role in X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s production will begin in earnest.
“My head is all about [Macbeth] at the moment,” the actor continues. “The day I finish that, I’ll be firmly Chuck Xavier.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
