Warner Bros. has set Jupiter Ascending, the new science fiction film from Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix, Cloud Atlas) for a July 25, 2014 release. They’ve also moved Peter Segal’s boxing comedy Grudge Match from November 15, 2013 to January 10, 2014.
Starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth and Tuppence Middleton, Jupiter Ascending focuses on higher forms of life who are watching us from other worlds. Kunis will play a Russian immigrant who is busily scrubbing toilets for a living. Unbeknownst to her, she actually possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule.
The date puts Jupiter Ascending up against Brett Ratner’s Hercules, set to star Dwayne Johnson.
Grudge Match, meanwhile, stars Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Kevin Hart, Kim Basinger and Alan Arkin and revolves around retired boxers Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match — 50 years after their last title fight.
