You’ve heard Marvel actors previously refrain from revealing too much about an upcoming Marvel movie. They often joke about there being a Marvel Sniper™ waiting to take them out. This mindset does not last only during the promotion process for films, but also on the set of said films. While speaking to actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan on the set of Avengers: Infinity War, the two were prepared to walk away from the day alive by not delivering answers.
The pair entered the small tent that we were assembled in, and Mackie announced their presence.
“Hello everyone. Welcome to ‘Avengers 3.’ My name is Anthony Mackie. This is Sebastian Stan. If you have any questions, direct towards us. We will answer them in a timely fashion. Do not ask anything about the movie, because we will not answer. This will go extremely well and you will enjoy.”
Furthering the joke that they won’t answer our questions, someone asks what they thought of Wonder Woman.
Stan replies, “I haven’t seen it.”
Mackie adds, “Loved it. It’s great. Ladies, great job all of you. Great job. I’m very proud of you.”
The subject of Bucky no longer being frozen is brought up given the scene, but Stan remains guarded when asked what he can stay about no longer being a Bucky pop.
“This is where he’s not frozen. That’s good for someone.”
When asked what he’s doing in Wakanda as a now un-frozen Bucky, Stan will not budge on details. He may be The Winter Soldier, but he fears The Marvel Sniper™.
“The same thing he was doing in Wakanda the last time you saw him in Wakanda,” he deadpans.
Mackie adds, “Hanging out. Eating Wakandanese food. “
Another question is posed that seemingly cannot be answered, and Mackie steps up to the challenge.
“We’ve already told you, we can’t say. I congratulated your people and everything. You’re messing it up.”
We should note, most of these answers and questions were being done in jest for the beginning of the interview with the pair. Though they remained guarded about what they could reveal and what they couldn’t, Stan and Mackie were still able to spill a few beans, like how the pair react to Thanos in the film.
“One thing about Falcon I’ve always loved since the beginning of discovering this character is his military background,” Mackie says. “His belief that his job in life to fight for his fellow man. So when he hears about those in his overall idea of world destruction, he’s very disheartened and shaken by it. He’s eager to get into the fight against this super evil, this diabolical demon known as Thanos. Y’all know who’s playing Thanos?”

Mackie continues, “I mean when you think of Thanos…”
Stan interrupts, “You think of W… He was so great in that movie.”
Mackie’s Falcon and Stan’s Bucky shared the screen with some of the best moments in Captain America: Civil War, and the pair teased a nice sequel to the “car seat” moment from that film.
“This was our first scene reuniting, and I thought it was warm,” Stan says.
“It was. A warm greeting,” Mackie agrees. “I realized he’s had a rough few years. He’s been frozen. I’m black, so I haven’t aged. We’re just surprised to see each other again. On a new mission.”
In the scene we saw being filmed, Falcon cracks jokes at the Winter Soldier’s expense regarding the code words programmed into his mind to make him a killing machine. Bucky certainly seems more stable now, but what will happen when he meets a talking Raccoon named Rocket?
“As usual I question my own stability, mentally and wonder whether or not I should have just stayed asleep,” Stan answers. “Things clearly did not get better.”
Mackie adds, “You know when I first met the Avengers I was like, ‘Holy sh*t. If the Avengers need me, I’m there!’ You know it’s just been ridiculous moment after ridiculous moment for me. So you know when I walk up and see a talking raccoon, it’s just a ridiculous moment leading to the next ridiculous thing. So it’s always just a fun journey.”
We’re prompted that there is time for one final question. A journalist asks about what kinds of destruction there is on Earth that results in this scene we’ve been watching all day.
Stan and Mackie elect not to answer but offer an exchange that should be in the history books.
“Dude, did you see Civil War? I didn’t see it,” Mackie jokes. “I heard it’s pretty good. The black dude is great.”
Stan goes for the fatality, “Chadwick was pretty fantastic.”
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on April 27.
