In March, 20th Century Fox will release the coming-of-age film Love, Simon, based on Becky Albertalli‘s 2015 best-selling YA novel titled Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Obviously the book title was a bit of a mouthful, a little difficult to fit on a marquee, hence the more succinct title Love, Simon. With that in mind, we dug up 25 other movies based on books that changed their titles from their original source material. Check out the Book Title vs Movie Title in the gallery below!
The cast of Love, Simon includes Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) as Simon Spier, Katherine Langford (Thirteen Reasons Why) as Leah Burke, Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse) as Abby Suso, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (The Land) as Nick Eisner, Logan Miller (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) as Martin Addison, and Jennifer Garner (Dallas Buyers Club) as Simon Spier’s mother. The film was written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (This Is Us).
Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Love, Simon is a funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.
Directed by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow), Love, Simon opens in theaters on March 16, 2018.
