Hitting theaters this Friday, Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire marks the big screen debut of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion and former “American Gladiator” Gina Carano, who Soderbergh discovered one night on television and decided to build an action film around (Read his thoughts on the matter in our exclusive interview).
Performing all her own stunts, Carano stars as Mallory Kane, a covert ops specialist who winds up double-crossed and who, while on the run from her former agency, goes on the hunt for those who betrayed her.
Written by Lem Dobbs (who previously worked with Soderbergh on The Limey), Haywire features an all-star cast that includes Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and Michael Angarano.
ComingSoon.net spoke with much of the cast at the recent junket for the film, talking about the film’s diverse roles, intense choreography and (sometimes literally) hard-hitting action sequences.
