The Star Trek 50 Artists, 50 Years exhibit celebrates half of century of boldly going no one has gone before
Among the many attractions at this past weekend’s Comic-Con International was CBS Consumer Products’ tribute to a half century of boldly exploring the final frontier. Star Trek 50 Artists, 50 Years pays homage to the incredible world that has sprung from Gene Roddenberry’s incredible vision of the future. “The Man Trap” became the first broadcast episode of the original Star Trek when it aired on NBC September 8, 1966. Since then, the franchise has had five different television spinoffs and more than a dozen feature films. A new television series is also on the way in 2017 with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, American Gods) serving as co-creator and executive producer. Comic-Con International: San Diego returned to the San Diego Convention Center in 2016, beginning with Preview Night on Wednesday, July 20 with the four days of the event running Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24, 2016. This year marked the 47th year for the show, making it the country’s longest continuously-run comics and popular arts convention.
