Fox Searchlight Pictures gave us the opportunity to speak with the cast of their new dramedy Demolition, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Naomi Watts, Judah Lewis and Academy Award winner Chris Cooper. Check out the video interview below to find out what the cast thinks of the amount of destruction in the film, as well as Cooper and Gyllenhaal’s long-working relationship that goes back to 1999’s October Sky! The film is directed by Dallas Buyers Club and Wild helmer Jean-Marc Vallée.
In Demolition, Davis (Gyllenhaal) is a successful investment banker who struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father in law Phil (Chris Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions. Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Naomi Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son Chris (Judah Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew.
Demolition is based on a Black List screenplay by Bryan Sipe, and is scheduled to hit theaters on April 8, 2016.
