Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV Spotlight

Catch up with the Nathalie Emmanuel movies and television appearances before Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials!

Nathalie Emmanuel is one of several performers who will be joining Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the sequel to The Maze Runner. And while Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his Gladers won’t recognize Emmanuel, there are plenty of moviegoers who will!

Game of Thrones fans should recognize Emmanuel from her role on that series, and she recently co-starred in Furious 7, one of the biggest box office hits of the year. Surprisingly, Emmanuel has only appeared in a handful of roles in her nine-year career as a professional actress. But her star is clearly on the rise.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials will open in theaters on September 18. Ahead of Emmanuel’s latest film, ComingSoon.net is looking back at her film and TV roles!

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Hollyoaks (2006)

There’s a pretty strong chance that many of our readers have never heard of Hollyoaks, the long-running British soap opera that is broadcast on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Back in 2006, Emmanuel joined the cast of “Hollyoaks” as Sasha Valentine, a good girl who occasionally went bad.

During Emmanuel’s four years on the show, Sasha went through most of the soap opera tropes: she was victim of violence, a binge drinker, an abuser of recreational drugs, briefly a prostitute, and even a gangster’s moll! Considering that her lover was thought dead and she angrily disowned her brother over that death, Sasha still got a happy-ish ending when Emmanuel left “Hollyoaks’ in 2010.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Casualty (2011)

Shortly after her stint on “Hollyoaks,” Emmanuel landed a guest spot on “Casualty,” a British medical drama that’s been going since 1986. Emmanuel only had a small role in this episode, but it did make into her demo reel, which she posted on YouTube.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Misfits (2011)

Emmanuel made her genre debut in the third season (series) premiere of the British drama, “Misfits.” She played Charlie, the potential love interest of Rudy Wade (Joseph Gilgun), who also made his debut in that episode. Sadly for Charlie, a romantic rival named Tanya (Katie Moore) murdered her and framed Rudy for the crime.

We could leave it there…but the sci-fi part of the story is that Rudy could “twin” himself, and Tanya was jealous because she saw Rudy’s twin with Charlie. Hence the murder mayhem that followed.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Twenty8k (2012)

Emmanuel made her feature film debut in the British thriller, Twenty8k. But the most notably thing about this movie is that Emmanuel’s future Scorch Trials costar, Kaya Scodelario also had a role in Twenty8k.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Game of Thrones (2013)

In America, Emmanuel’s breakout role was Missandei, the former slave girl turned adviser to Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). Emmanuel was quickly promoted to a series regular on Game of Thrones, and she’s rarely been away from her Khaleesi’s side…except for that time a huge dragon flew Daenerys to parts unknown near the end of last season.

As a sign of her importance to the show, the “Game of Thrones” showrunners even gave Missandei a romantic subplot with Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) of the Unsullied.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Furious 7 (2015)

Furious 7 gave Emmanuel her biggest movie role to date as Ramsey, the hacker who created the God’s Eye computer program that can track down almost anyone on the planet. Ramsey was aligned with Dom (Vin Diesel) and his team during the film. And Emmanuel also had a very memorable swimsuit scene in the movie that appears to be quite popular online.

Nathalie Emmanuel Movies and TV: Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)

Emmanuel’s next role is Harriet in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Without giving away too many spoilers for the story, Harriet is the co-leader of Group B, another band of survivors with parallels to the Gladers. Except unlike the Gladers, Group B is made up almost entirely of girls.
