EXO’s Do Kyung-soo Ends Exclusive Contract With SM Entertainment

Do Kyung-soo, popularly known as D.O. of EXO, has reportedly ended his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. He has been part of this agency from the beginning of his music career, but now is set to move on to a different agency.

JTBC reported that D.O. has not entirely left SM Entertainment as he would continue group promotions and activities. However, a different agency, founded by him and his former SM manager, will handle his movies and personal activities.

D.O. rose to fame as one of the main vocalists of the K-pop band, EXO. It currently consists of nine members, including D.O., Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai, Sehun, and Chen.

SM Entertainment responds to reports of EXO members joining other agencies

EXO’s D.O. and his fellow South Korean band members have been part of SM Entertainment for a long time. But, a recent report stated that he left the agency and formed a new venture with SM’s former manager.

While the singer/actor has not responded to the report yet, SM Entertainment has released a statement. It stated, “D.O.’s exclusive contract with us will expire in early November. Following thorough discussions with D.O., it has been decided that he will continue his EXO activities with SM, but will proceed with his acting and individual activities through the newly established agency founded by his and SM’s former manager.”

After the news of D.O. leaving the agency went viral, several reports suggested that other members are also planning to leave.

However, SM Entertainment refuted those reports as their statement read, “It is not true that Chanyeol and Sehun have moved to a new agency. The contracts that EXO members signed with SM Entertainment at the end of last year remain valid, and EXO activities will continue to proceed under SM Entertainment.”

The agency further mentioned that they have “conditionally allowed” the members to collaborate with their own established agencies for individual activities.
