Oscars 2024: Ram Charan’s RRR Gets Special Mention

The Oscars 2024 was a star-studded affair. Every deserving movie and actor received the award. Between the felicitation ceremony, the Academy paid several tributes, and one of the most heart-touching was an ode to stunt industry personnel. The highlight of the tribute was the inclusion of action clips from SS Rajamouli’s RRR.

RRR came out in 2022 and was SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus. The movie scripted history not only in the Indian cinema but across the world. Its track Naatu Naatu became an overnight sensation. Moreover, it is also the first Indian production to win an Oscar in the Best Original Score category.

2024 Academy Awards: RRR stunt sequences part of Oscars tribute

The most awaited award ceremony of the year, the Oscars, was recently held in Los Angeles. Unlike last year, the Academy Awards did not see any Indian movie competing in any category. However, it did include snippets from SS Rajamouli’s record-shattering RRR. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt paid an ode to the stuntmen of the industry. The tribute included several clips from various classics, including RRR.

Sharing the clip of the heartwarming tribute, the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle thanked the Academy with the caption saying, “And again, a sweet surprise for us… Glad that @TheAcademy included #RRRMovie action sequences as part of their tribute to the world’s greatest stunt sequences in cinema.”

RRR starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and others portrayed supporting characters in the movie.

The movie follows the fictitious story of two freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaran Bheem.

Though they each pursue different battles, both are united in their opposition against British rule in India. When they join forces, they ignite a revolution nationwide.
