What is the story of Ambajipeta Marriage Band?
Ambajipeta Marriage Band follows the story of a pair of siblings, Malli and Padma of Ambajipet. While Malli is a skilled barber, Padma is a teacher whose alleged relationship with Venkata Babu is exposed. Venkata’s relationship with Padma faces many hurdles because he is a businessman. The film explores caste discrimination and takes many unexpected turns.
In an interview with The Hindu, Suhas revealed that he read the film’s script during the lockdown. He added that half of the film is inspired by actual events from the director’s life. However, the rest is fiction according to what happens in the Godavari district. He said, “Some of the incidents are inspired by what he (the director) faced, a few others occurred around him, and the rest of it has been fictionalized and dramatized. When I read some of the scenes that happened at the salon and during the climax, they gave me an adrenaline rush, and I was eager to begin working on the film.”
