Why was Kabir feared in his college?
Kabir Singh is a gifted yet troubled medical student. He is the youngest son of Rajdheer Singh, a wealthy business tycoon. Studying at the Delhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kabir is both brilliant and brash. His volatile temper often lands him in trouble. He suffers from Schizotypal Personality Disorder, which contributes to his anger issues. His behavior further establishes him as a feared and respected figure on campus.
Kabir lays eyes on Preeti Sikka, a timid new student at the college. Despite his overbearing nature, Preeti reciprocates his love, forming an intense bond. Kabir’s journey continues as he graduates and moves to Mussoorie for his post-graduation. However, he maintains his relationship with Preeti despite the physical distance.
Soon after, Preeti introduces Kabir to her conservative parents. A dramatic encounter with her father, Harpal, leads to Kabir being thrown out of her house. Kabir gives Preeti an ultimatum – to choose between him and her family within six hours. However, this backfires when he succumbs to a drug-induced unconsciousness, missing Preeti’s attempt to reach him. Waking up two days later, Kabir’s life spirals down as he learns that Preeti is being forced into an arranged marriage.
Why did Kabir turn to alcoholism?
Immediately after waking up, he gatecrashes Preeti’s wedding, which leads to his subsequent arrest. This further leads to his estrangement from his family. The once-accomplished Kabir now faces a life filled with alcohol and drug abuse, although he manages to maintain the facade of a successful surgeon. His addictions, however, soon catch up with him, leading to a professional downfall when his substance abuse is uncovered following surgery.
The subsequent suspension of his medical license marks Kabir’s rock bottom. This personal and professional crisis coincides with the death of his grandmother, an event that brings a moment of reconciliation with his father and an internal resolution to change his ways.
Kabir Singh ending: Did Preeti and Kabir end up together?
However, the film’s climax unfolds in an emotionally charged encounter between Kabir and a visibly pregnant Preeti in a park. Here, the layers of misunderstanding and unspoken pain between them unravel. Preeti, who had left her husband days after the marriage and had been living independently, confronts Kabir about his past actions and his self-destructive path. In a cathartic moment of revelation, it is disclosed that the child Preeti is carrying is Kabir’s, leading to a reconciliation between the two.
The film concludes on a hopeful note, with Kabir and Preeti’s marriage and the birth of their child symbolizing a new beginning. Once at odds, their families come together, with Preeti’s father expressing remorse for his past actions. The final scenes, portraying Kabir and Preeti with their child on a beach, reflect a journey that has come full circle, from turbulent passion to serene family life, signifying their growth and maturity as individuals and as a couple.
