Malayalam megastar Mammootty is all set to take the audience on a cinematic adventure with his upcoming film, Bramayugam. The actor will allegedly be playing a never-seen-before character in the upcoming film. While its makers have already piqued curiosity with its intriguing posters, there is a buzz around its plot. As mysterious as the posters are, its plot seems nothing less.
Mammootty has seemingly taken up challenging roles in recent times to refine his oeuvre. The actor was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Kaathal – The Core alongside Jyothika. He took up the role of an introverted gay man in the movie and successfully portrayed it. But if the reports are anything to go by, his upcoming role in Bramayugam would be interesting to watch.
Mammootty to play a mysterious role in Bramayugam?
Mammootty’s upcoming horror film, Bramyugam, is just a few weeks away from its release, and the buzz around its plot is strong. The censor copy details of the movie have been making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), sharing details about its plot. As per the image shared by an X user heyopinions, Bramayugam is set against the backdrop of a village in Kerala in a different time period. Arjun Ashokan is set to play a folklore singer, while Mammootty will be seen portraying a mysterious man.
The synopsis of Bramayugam, as per the viral details, read, “In the age-old Kerala, where Tantra/Maya was an everyday reality, Thevan, a folklore singer from the Paanan caste (a lower caste wherein their occupation is singing hymns of praises about gods and rulers), loses his way after narrowly escaping from a slave market. His life takes an unexpected turn when he accidentally stumbles upon a mysterious trad.” However, the synopsis did not reveal much about Mammootty’s character.
Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, the film is produced by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. The movie will be released on February 15, 2024.
