Horror star Tony Todd plays Bram Stoker’s Dracula in new audio drama
Candyman star and beloved horror movie icon Tony Todd as Dracula?
It’s all true, at least in audio form. Bleak December Inc., a multi-media production company founded by Canadian filmmaker and actor Anthony D.P. Mann (who himself played the Count in the film Terror of Dracula), is about to release Dracula, the first in a series of audio adaptations of classic horror tales to be released initially for download through the Fangoria Musick label. The audio play (exec produced by Mann who here gives voice to Van Helsing) celebrates the rich history of classic radio theater and features a lush score and full cast.
Said Todd of the project: “I’m honored and thrilled to form a partnership with Bleak December Inc and Fangoria Musick, in presenting the first of hopefully many audio recordings of classic horror characters.“
Future audio releases planned by Bleak December include Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein, and The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Dracula (which sports a beautiful Basil Gogos-styled cover by D.W. Frydendall, pictured above) will be available for digital download through Fangoria Musick on September 30. In the meantime listen to this chilling audio trailer…
