Though some snottier readers may opt to argue, there has never been a bad Tim Burton movie. Even less successful works like MARS ATTACKS! and PLANET OF THE APES are ripe with innovation, style, ambition and filled with magical moments previously unseen on any screen.
The word visionary gets thrown around plenty. I know I throw it around. But Burton truly earns that handle. He’s perhaps pop fantasy cinema’s greatest innovator.
One look at the dynamic trailer for his upcoming dark fable MISS PEREGRINES HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN proves this.
Here, Burton casts the elegant Eva green (PENNY DREADFUL) in a macabre fantasy based on the best selling, same named novel by Ransom Riggs, a story of the titular home where the strangest youths live in harmony from the harm of the outside world.
