Alberto Marini, prolific producer of many a genre flick, including the notorious [REC] franchise, and prolific scribe, whose credits include EXTINCTION and SLEEP TIGHT, is all set to unleash his directorial debut SUMMER CAMP much, much sooner than we first expected.

Last week, SHOCK reported how the Televisa-Lionsgate joint venture Pantelion, Hollywood’s first Latino film studio, was gearing up to release the viral outbreak horror film some time soon but today’s brand new US trailer confirms a March 18th limited theatrical release. With Marini having worked with [REC]’s very own Jaume Balagueró on a number of projects, said zombie franchise creator jumped straight on board to serve as Exec. Producer of SUMMER CAMP to support Marini in his first helmer’s gig.

The film stars Diego Boneta, Jocelin Donahue, Maiara Walsh and Andrés Velencoso and, having caught the film at last year’s Sitges Film Festival, I assure you this is one you don’t want to miss as it defies pretty much every horror convention in the book as the pursuer becomes the pursued and the cat becomes the mouse.

Synopsis:

Four American counsellors at a European summer camp must deal with the outbreak of a rage-inducing plague. With only a matter of hours before the children they are meant to be supervising arrive, the group must survive the night and stop a bigger nightmare.
