THE HATEFUL EIGHT To Screen in Italy at Fellini’s Studio 5 in Cinecitt

Tarantino flick to screen at legendary Italian studio.

I guess the excitement over Ennio Morricone’s Oscar nom for THE HATEFUL EIGHT has sparked more than a bit of pride and enthusiasm in the composer’s home country.

Variety reports today that the controversial, violent and epic western shocker will screen at the legendary Italian film studio Cinecittà, specifically at the storied Studio 5 soundstage, the place where iconic magic-realist filmmaker Federico Fellini once sculpted some of his wildest works, including his masterpiece, 8 1/2.

In honor of THE HATEFUL EIGHT’s Italian premiere, the soundstage has been modified into a movie theater, with – as per Tarantino’s request – 888 seats (!) and, of course, fully equipped to screen 70mm.

Outside of the screening itself, the Cinecittà folks are actually building a reproduction of the film’s cabin, complete with fake snow…in the theater! All this beauty goes down on January 29th…

God bless the Italians!
