Dario Argento’s bloody, black-gloved classic gets the 3-disc, 4K Blu-ray treatment.
Dario Argento was already a major name in cult cinema by the time he made his magnum opus, the epic 1975 black-gloved-killer thriller DEEP RED (PROFONDO ROSS), an evolution of the Italian giallo film and a movie pulsing with energy.
Four decades later, the movie arguably stands as the iconic director’s masterpiece.
Released in many pristine international editions since the inception of DVD and Blu-ray, UK genre movie juggernaut Arrow Video is prepping to unleash what might be the ultimate DEEP RED Blu-ray set.
Limited to 5,000 copies, this exclusive 3-disc release offers up a stunning new 4k transfer of both the international cut , released as both DEEP RED and THE HATCHET MURDERS (105 mins) and the directors cut (127 mins). The set will release on January 25th, 2016.
This new release will also include a wealth of bonus content, alongside the complete 28-track original soundtrack recording, housed together in deluxe packaging including an all-new exclusive booklet, 6 x postcard set and feature newly commissioned artwork by Gilles Vranckx.
Starring BLOW UP lead David Hemmings (hired no doubt because of DEEP RED’s thematic and strictural ties to that New Wave, Antonioni classic) and bolstered by a throbbing prog-rock score from regular Argento music collaborators GOBLIN, DEEP RED is a major work of style and shock.
