The first and best HALLOWEEN film returns to theaters.
Whats that you say, horror fan? You worship at the druid shrine of John Carpenters landmark 1978 body count classic HALLOWEEN and yet, you say youve never, ever seen it on the big screen
Well, brother/sister/other, no need to get bent out of, er, Shape. For if you happen to live in one the participating U.S. cities listed HERE, and youre free on Thursday, October 29th at 7:30pm, then youre all set to see HALLOWEEN the way it was designed to be seen: projected on the big screen, complete with a king-size Donald Pleasance screaming , Jamie Lee Curtis comely form sauntering and JCs game-changing electro-acoustic score pummeling.
Thats right, Fathom Events, in partnership with SpectiCast is bringing John Carpenters original HALLOWEEN back to the cinemas for a special one-night event, complete with a new, pre-show introduction video by Carpenter himself.
Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com, or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in select movie theaters through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
John Carpenter’s “Halloween” premiered on October 25th, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri. After performing successfully in the Midwest, it then moved on to Chicago and New York. From there, it had a platform release across the country, playing in cities all across the U.S. Over 35 years later, the movie has made its money back more than 200 times, making it one of the most successful independent horror movies of all time, just behind TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
And really, I think the take away from all of this news is that TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES has made more money than HALLOWEEN. Strange indeed.
(And just in case you’ve forgotten how perfect a film HALLOWEEN is, here’s the theatrical trailer, one more time, with feeling…)
