Annabeth Gish will reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes when The X-Files returns to FOX in January
As rumored for some time, Annabeth Gish is officially set to reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes on FOX‘s revival of “The X-Files.” Look for the series to return January 24, 2016 with the first of six all new episodes.
The Monica Reyes character first appeared midway through “The X-Files'” eighth season in an episode titled “This Is Not Happening.” At the time, leading man David Duchovny had left the series with Robert Patrick stepping in as Agent Scully’s new partner, John Doggett. By the ninth season, Annabeth Gish was a series regular herself with Doggett and Reyes offering a gender-swapped slant on the show’s believer/skeptic dynamic.
Despite plans for Annabeth Gish’s return, it appears unlikely that Robert Patrick will be back as well.
