Exclusive Poster: Bewitching Must-See, The Midnight Swim

More a metaphysical drama than outright horror, this atmospheric tale of three sisters remains one of the best films of 2015.

The Midnight Swim is the feature debut from Sarah Adina Smith. Together with a stirring cast that includes Lindsay Burdge, Jennifer LaFleur and Aleksa Palladino, they’ve crafted a bewitching and terribly affecting story of three sisters who reunite in the wake of their mother’s death. As the synopsis goes, “Spirit Lake is unusually deep. No diver has ever managed to find the bottom, though many have tried. When Dr. Amelia Brooks disappears during a deep-water dive, her three daughters travel home to settle her affairs. They find themselves unable to let go of their mother and become drawn into the mysteries of the lake.”

I first saw The Midnight Swim at its world premiere last summer in the Fantasia International Film Festival, and have proceeded to rhapsodize endlessly about it since. The entire film boasts an otherworldly quality, one as eerie as it is elating.

Candy Factory Films releases The Midnight Swim theatrically and VOD June 26th. Go, go, go.
