Kristen Stewart, currently onscreen with Juliette Binoche in Olivier Assayas’ wonderfully-received Clouds of Sils Maria will re-team with the French filmmaker for a fashion underworld-set Paris ghost story entitled Personal Shopper.
Other than noting a ‘genre/fantasy dimension,’ the locale and ghost story vibe is all that’s offered of the new Assayas-Stewart joint. This won’t be the first time Assayas played with genre/thriller elements. He helmed 1996’s terrific Irma Vep (about a remake of silent crime serial Les Vampires), the Asia Argento thriller, Boarding Gate and 2002’s Demonlover. Stewart has been a presence in fantasy/genre-tinged films since she was young, including Panic Room, the Pang Brothers’ The Messengers and of course, the Twilight films.
Production on Personal Shopper gets underway late 2015. [Variety]
