The popular manga series about a notebook who kills anyone whose name is written in it will get a U.S. adaptation directed by The Guest and Youre Nexts Adam Wingard.
THR reports Wingard (pictured above in V/H/S/2) will direct Death Note for Warner Bros. The film will be produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka. Written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, Death Note has previously been adapted into an anime and three live-action films, the third of which was helmed by Ringus Hideo Nakata. Death Note sees a young man discover the Death Note and enact a plan to eradicate all evil and criminals in the world with it.
Wingard and his regular collaborator Simon Barrett are currently underway on The Woods for Lionsgate, which rumor has pegged as actually a new Blair Witch film.
