Scandinavian creature feature Thale proved a brisk, very sweet one. The tale of two men who do crime scene cleanup and stumble upon a legend of Nordic folklore was filled with as much horror as it was fantasy and empathy. Whether the upcoming Thale II, a project selected for the Nordic Genre Boost, will hold the same balance remains to be seen, but teasing concept art does herald something gruesome.
Though not revealing much, the Norwegian Film Institute is hosting the above image, as well as a small description of Thale II as dealing with spellbinders and lurking creatures from Norwegian folklore. Thales creature was rooted in the huldra, seductive forest creatures with tails. Twitchs Andrew Mack posits then that Thale II could concern the Nøkken, a water spirit who lures women and children to drown by playing the violin.
