Steve Niles’ upcoming Black Mask Studios comic The Disciples has been acquired by Universal Cable Productions with plans for a series executive produced by horror master Wes Craven.
As of now, Craven is listed as executive producer on the developing project, with no word as to writing or directing if it comes to fruition. Niles. who created beloved horror comics like 30 Days of Night and Criminal Macabre, teams with Christopher Mitten on the comic, which is described as a ghost story in space.
If Craven does direct, it would be his first time helming television episodes since Nightmare Cafe, a one season anthology series he co-created in the early 90s. Prior to that, Craven had directed episodes of the 80s Twilight Zone, as well as TV Movies Stranger in our House, cryogenic creeper Chiller and Night Visions. Niles meanwhile, penned Darren Lynn Bousman-directed Fear Itself episode, “New Year’s Day.” [THR]
