SXSW Teaser: Ava’s Possessions Takes Place After the Exorcism

There aren’t a lot of post-trauma based horror films. Of course, I mean post-slasher, or post-supernatural experience, not films focusing on characters trying to get over real world grief, which many do. Perhaps it’s tied to horror often being about the visceral experience itself. The first that springs to mind is 2006’s Zombies Anonymous (aka Last Rites of the Dead) and now SXSW entry, Ava’s Possessions

From the director of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are UndeadAva’s Possessions finds “Ava recovering from demonic possession. With no memory of the past month, she is forced to attend a Spirit Possessions Anonymous support group. As Ava struggles to reconnect with her friends, get her job back, and figure out where the huge blood stain in her apartment came from, she is plagued by nightmarish visions–the demon is trying to come back.”

Ava’s Possessions world premieres this Friday, March 13th as part of the Visions lineup at Austin’s SXSW. The film looks a neon-laden horror-comedy, and the latest work to fill the Carol Kane gap in our lives (watch The Unbreakable Kimmy Scmidt). For full screening info, head right here.
