Did we ever think the descriptor, “Schwarzenegger Zombie Movie” would be a thing?
Considering the iconic action star’s past choices and taste, it’s perhaps not surprising, but it is likely a testament to just how out of control this “zombies in pop culture” thing has gotten. Directed by Henry Hobson, from a very buzzed about script by John Scott 3, Maggie “tells the story of a deadly zombie virus that has put a plague on the world. When Maggie, a vivacious young woman, becomes infected, her father brings her home to let her be with their family. As Maggies condition worsens, their relationship is tested, a fathers love holding on stronger than the disease. This heart-wrenching twist on the zombie apocalypse puts a human face on an inexplicable horror.
Arnold is said father in the dramatic undead film, while Abigail Breslin essays the title character. Maggie was originally set to World Premiere as part of last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival, but was pulled from the lineup when Lionsgate took distribution rights. The studio has now set a May 8th release through Roadside Attractions.
