Teaser: V/H/S: Viral’s Bonus Segment, Gorgeous Vortex

The official story goes: Todd Lincoln’s involvement in V/H/S: Viral was prematurely announced. Intended to be a hidden aspect, “Gorgeous Vortex” was instead revealed to the world and left audiences wondering why exactly it wasn’t there when the third film in the found footage anthology series hit theaters and VOD. Available on the film’s DVD and Blu release this week, “Gorgeous Vortex” is something else entirely from what we’re used to in the V/H/S films, namely because its found footage nature isn’t immediately clear. Also, because it’s weird as shit. See your first teaser for this strange, transfixing surprise.

The strange thing is, “Gorgeous Vortex” may be Viral‘s best moments. This dream logic style piece with fiery dollhouses, a creature and supermodels engaged in occult ritual is right up my nonsensical alley.

V/H/S: Viral is on DVD and Blu February 17th. The film features contributions from Gregg Bishop, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (Spring), Marcel Sarmiento and Nacho Vigalondo. In the film, “a police chase after a deranged ice cream truck has captivated the attention of the greater Los Angeles area. Dozens of fame-obsessed teens flock to the streets with their video cameras and camera phones, hell-bent on capturing the next viral video. But there is something far more sinister occurring in the streets of L.A. than a simple police chase. A resounding effect is created onto all those obsessed with capturing salacious footage for no other purpose than to amuse or titillate. Soon the discovery becomes that they themselves are the stars of the next video, one where they face their own death.”

Collider debuted this “Gorgeous Vortex” tease. Expect a conversation with director Lincoln right here on Shock, soon.
