Keanu Reeves wastes a lot of fools very quickly in this month’s hard-hitting action thriller John Wick, but he might be in for a slow death in Eli Roth’s next torture porn effort Knock Knock.
While not quite a knockoff (pun intended), Roth’s home invasion thriller sounds like it takes a page or two from the Funny Games playbook (but with a sexy twist), similar to how his The Green Inferno borrowed much from Cannibal Holocaust. Listen to Reeves describe the plot to us during our exclusive 1-on-1 during the John Wick Junket.
STYD: You just did Knock Knock with Eli Roth. What’s the Eli Roth experience like?
Reeves: Fantastic! We went out to Santiago, Chile and we shot this home invasion movie. It’s an architect, family man, two kids, family’s away for the weekend. He’s working [knocks] opens the door and two lovely young ladies are there, dripping wet from the rain in party clothes. “We’re lost! Can you help us? Can we come in?” Then they kind of come on to me, seduce me, and then I do it, then wake up in the morning and they’re not leaving. They want to exact some revenge and punishment. Yeah. It’s fun.
Directed by Roth from a script by himself, Guillermo Amoedo and Nicolás López, Knock Knock also stars Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas and is scheduled for release sometime in 2015. To read some recent comments on the film from Roth himself click here.
