The project got its start back in 2011 and went into production in 2012 with Bryan Bertino (pictured) at the helm. It was eagerly anticipated based on the success of Bertino’s feature debut The Strangers.
The film begins with a rather shocking depiction of violence and focuses on four characters – a husband and wife, a young woman and a guy that lives with his mother.
Separately, they receive a gift-wrapped video camera that comes with a specific set of instructions: Keep the camera rolling and follow the rules. If they don’t, someone will die. Mockingbird chronicles their hellish night.
Hopefully, we’ll see a trailer release to coincide with the film’s debut next week!
Blumhouse Tilt has a few other titles arriving on VOD in the near future, including The Town That Dreaded Sundown, directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, and produced by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and Jason Blum. Also look for the Stephen King adaptation Mercy and the Joe Johnston-directed Not Safe for Work soon.
