Netflix Horrors is a regular column in which Shock Till You Drop alerts you to the latest genre titles to hit the VOD service . It’s been a while since our last update (it was a big one, click here for that ). Today, however, Shock has four titles to tell you about that are available for the first time on Instant. I’ve included any relevant links to reviews and offered my own “pass” or “recommendation” in case you’re wondering what to add to your queue.

Two Vice media correspondents set out to document their friend’s search to find his missing sister. They travel outside of the United States to an undisclosed location where they are welcomed into the world of “Eden Parish,” a self-sustained rural utopia comprised of nearly 200 members. At the centre of this small, religious, socialist community is a mysterious leader known only as “Father.” As their friend reunites with his sister, it becomes apparent to the newcomers that this paradise may not be as it seems. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a race to escape with their lives.

Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix), Bill Paxton (Aliens) and Kevin Zegers (Mortal Instruments), headline an all-star cast in this savage and unrelenting thriller about mankind’s greatest enemy: himself. As an endless winter engulfs Earth, humans struggle to survive in remote underground outposts. When Colony 7 receives a distress call from a nearby settlement, Sam (Zegers) and Briggs (Fishburne) race through the snow on a dangerous rescue mission. What they find at the desolate base could mean mankind’s salvation—or its total annihilation.

Newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory’s 7-year old son Liam up to the country to their remote cabin for a quiet getaway and some much needed family time. When it appears as if Liam has run away, psychological suspense becomes straight-out horror, as Sarah and Cory must now undergo a life-or-death struggle with a sadistic cult-like family who have taken Liam for themselves. The underlying theme of the film is family and the lengths we will go to protect those we love from harm and torment.
