The original film, directed by Charles B. Pierce, took its inspiration from the 1940s Texarkana murders in which a Phantom Killer stalked the town, however, the remake is taking a more meta approach.
In this redo, Timlin plays a young girl who survives a copycat massacre at the films annual tribute screening and sets out to solve the mystery of whos recreating the unsolved Sackhead murders, using clues from her own past.
Gary Cole, Dennis O’Hare, Veronica Cartwright and Joshua Leonard also star.
MGM is handling distribution. No word yet on a release date, however, we’ll have some news about this one very, very soon…
