Texas Chain Saw Massacre Franchise Confusion Lives on in New Leatherface Film

Seth M. Sherwood has been tapped to write the new installment of the series which is being called Leatherface – a moniker already used for the 1990 entry Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III.

Millennium Films is once again spearheading this project. This is the company behind Texas Chainsaw 3D. Carl Mazzacone, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman will serve as producers.

A director is expected to be selected soon with a possible production start this winter.

The Wrap says that this entry will be a prequel set in the ’70s that depicts the early days of Leatherface before The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Yee-haw! You keeping up with me here?

Hooper’s film spawned three sequels, a remake, a prequel to the remake, then a modern-day “direct sequel” (Texas Chainsaw 3D) and now…another prequel.

When a director is found, we’ll let you know!
