Shane Black apparently likes the challenge of crafting a good sequel. He told Collider today that the new Predator film is indeed a sequel and not a reboot.
“Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” he told the site, adding that he can “really get behind inventive sequels.”
He added, he liked “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”
Black will be writing the treatment for the film, meanwhile, his collaborator on The Monster Squad, Fred Dekker, will be on scripting duties. I’m very curious to see if they’re going to address Predators in any way.
Regardless of if they do or don’t, this is terrific news. Now I’m excited.
