Blumhouse is Developing a Remake of The Sentinel

The SentinelFor a little over a year now, I've been hearing of rumblings that a remake of The Sentinel was being kicked around. Some writers that we know in the genre have flirted with it, but nothing has come to fruition. Things are heating up, however, because Tracking Board is confirming that Universal and producer Jason Blum are teaming up to redo the 1977 film directed by Michael Winner.

The project is now out to writers and directors.

In the original film, Christina Raines plays a young fashion model who moves into an old Brooklyn brownstone. Strange things begin to happen and as she begins to research the tenement, she comes to learn her building has a horrifying past and is a gateway to hell. Chris Sarandon (Fright Night), Martin Balsam and John Carradine co-star. Some critics took aim at The Sentinel because it used people with real physical deformities.

The concept screams "Blumhouse." It's contained. It's supernatural. It can have a limited cast.

We'll keep you posted as this one develops!
