Clive Barker’s Nightbreed Getting Its Own Comic Series Again

BOOM_Nightbreed_001_AFresh off the heels of the release of Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut, Boom! Studios have announced (via Multiveristy Comics) that the cult classic property Clive Barker's Nightbreed will be getting its very own comic series later this year. Written by Marc Andreyko with art by Piotr Kowalski, the series is described as a re-imaging of the concept which will draw influence from both the original novella and the 1990 film.

"The first arcs of the book are exploring the origins of some of the most colorful residents of Midian and how they got there," Andreyko said. "The connective tissue comes from the character of… well, you’ll just have to read the comic!"

But what will the series entail? Monsters. Lots of monsters.

"I’m writing the book to be both fully accessible to new readers and hit the spot for long-time fans of the property. The pitch: Monsters are real and they live in our world. Some in plain sight, others find refuge in the ancient city of Midian. “Nightbreed” will chronicle tales—past and present—of these creatures and how they survive in a world that hates, fears, and wants to destroy them. From ancient Greece to colonial America to the world of today, there be monsters here."

Below you can check out an excerpt from Kowalski's art as well as covers for the project by Riley Rossmo, Christopher Mitten and Mike Mignola. Will you be picking up Clive Barker's Nightbreed when it debutes later this year?
