With “Origin: Wolf Creek Book 1” McLean co-writes with Aaron Sterns the first of two prequel tales. Origin takes readers back to when Mick Taylor was just a young boy and an innocent witness to the death of his little sister. Later, as a jackaroo in remote Western Australia, Mick struggles to contain his killer instinct and to keep it hidden from the rough company of the farmhands. Mick soon begins to wonder if he has competition on his hands, fearing he’s not the only psychopath on a hunting spree in the outback. The wide open outback offers plenty of space for someone to hide, or to hide a body, but it may be only a matter of time before the cops unravel his deadly trail.
“Desolation Game,” written by McLean and Brett McBean, charts Mick’s transformation from amateur murderer to experienced killer, as he finds the perfect location to hone his sick talents: war. An out-of-control sergeant takes Mick under his wing, as he unleashes his inner demons during the hells of the Vietnam War.
Once back home, Mick begins to make use of the lessons learnt in the army, when tour operators bring Kombi-loads of sightseers out his way into the Western Australian desert. Two suspicious flat tyres deliver potential victims to his lair, and Mick makes sure their once-in-a-lifetime tour stays that way.
Wolf Creek is seeing a bit of resurgence in 2014. Image Entertainment will be releasing Wolf Creek 2 later this year. You can watch an international trailer below.
