Written and directed by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, The Lost Tapes showcased the events after the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as “The Amityville Horror”… only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.
But now here is the question: Are they going with La Scala and Farrand’s story? Currently, all we have is a new title and a new release date. Stay tuned for confirmation.
We’ve been down this road before release date-wise. If you recall, Dimension staked some real estate in early 2014 for The Lost Tapes before delaying the project.
Dimension is teaming with Blumhouse Productions on this endeavor as Jason Blum mentioned recently.
The new release date makes Amityville the first major release of 2015. It will be followed a week later by Fox’s Frankenstein, starring Daniel Radcliffe.
