Frank Darabont returns to television – TNT, to be specific – with Mob City, a series I'm definitely looking forward to because, well, it's Darabont and because Jon Bernthal is starring (that guy has promise). Because Mob City is on the way, that means Darabont is back in the press and because he's back in the press, that means journalists are going to ask him about The Walking Dead, a show he was fired from.
And guess what? He's still not happy that the AMC suits cut him from the series. (To be fair, he's not the only showrunner to get the boot.) Here are some choice words he had for Variety that pressed him about the debacle.
“Oh god no, why would I,” he says. “If the woman you loved with all your heart left you for the Pilates instructor and just sent you an invitation to the wedding, would you go?”
He continues, “There’s a deep commitment and emotional investment that happens when you create something that is very near and dear to you, and when that is torn asunder by sociopaths who don’t give a shit about your feelings or the feelings of your cast and crew because they have their own reasons to screw everybody, that doesn’t feel good.”
