Eli Roth Surprises Fantastic Fest With The Green Inferno, Provides Update on Sequel

Fantastic Fest held its first secret screening of the event (a second one is due tomorrow, Monday).  When attendees took their seats, Eli Roth – with co-star Aaron Burns – stepped into the theater to present The Green Inferno, making its U.S. debut before being released by Open Road Films at a later date.

Although Ed Douglas weighed in with his review from TIFF, you can expect my thoughts on the film sometime tomorrow (I really, really liked it).

Post-screening, Roth updated the crowd with progress on Beyond the Green Inferno, the sequel announced shortly after the TIFF premiere.

He told the audience that he was cracking the story now with Nicolas Lopez, the director of Aftershock who would be helming the Green Inferno follow-up.  So, it looks like it’ll be some time before the sequel moves into production.

Based on our post-screening chat with had with Roth after the audience dissipated, it sounds like he has a few ideas brewing story-wise based on his research and time making the first film.
