The MPAA Weighs in on Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno

According to the MPAA, Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno is R “for aberrant violence and torture, grisly disturbing images, brief graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.”

That’s pretty stellar, no?  I’m sure over the next month – as the film enters the Toronto International Film Festival and Roth begins talking to the press – we’ll be hearing how he landed an R and not an NC-17.  Or, perhaps he did and was able to appease them after some extra cutting.

Then again, has Roth become aware of how to work the system, landing that R-rating with ease?

Directed by Roth, the film follows a group of student activists who from New York City travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they saved.
